The final year of ‘The Search Is On’ for the next Queen’s Young Leaders has seen a phenomenal response, with more applications than ever being submitted from across the Commonwealth.

The search for the final ever Queen’s Young Leaders was launched from London’s Australia House in June, at a dinner attended by HRH Prince Harry and Sir John Major, former UK Prime Minister and Chairman of The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

Since then, thousands of applications have been submitted from Commonwealth countries ranging from Canada and Australia to Kiribati and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Queen’s Young Leaders team now has the difficult task of choosing the final 60 Award winners and runners-up. All applications will be considered based on the young person’s achievements to date, as well as their potential and their future ambition.

Award winners will be shortlisted by a panel made up of young people from across the Commonwealth. The shortlist will then be presented to The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme Board, which contains members from The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, Comic Relief and The Royal Commonwealth Society, for final selection and decision.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to apply to become a 2018 Queen’s Young Leader. The winners will be announced in December 2017.
